Different grits of flap wheels are extremely effective in sanding and finishing operations. They consist of many abrasive flaps attached to a central hub. Coarser grit flaps (36 and 80 grit) are used for more aggressive material removal, including rough shaping and weld bead removal. Smoothing and polishing are accomplished with finer grit flaps between 120 and 400.
